Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD), also known as Metal-Organic Vapor-Phase Epitaxy (MOVPE), is the state-of-the-art production technology for ultra-thin single-crystalline layers of semiconductor material. Twenty-One Semiconductors uses a close coupled showerhead reactor for high homogeneity on wafer sizes of up to 4 inch. Based on gallium arsenide substrates, the material systems AlGaInP and InAlGaAs – including low dimensional structures such as quantum wells and quantum dots – allow emission in a large spectral range from orange to near-infrared.
