As the world’s first telecommunication tower constructed from reinforced concrete in the sixties, the Stuttgart TV Tower soon became a landmark due to its novel and pioneering design. It is the same spirit that drives Twenty-One Semiconductors, a spin-off from the Institut für Halbleiteroptik und Funktionelle Grenzflächen at the University of Stuttgart, to connect innovative research with state-of-the-art production.

With comprehensive knowledge in III-V epitaxy, semiconductor processing and optoelectronic device fabrication, the team combines many years of experience in the fields of semiconductor growth and laser engineering. Our mission is to provide innovative solutions that allow our customers to enhance their product performance and enter new markets.

Twenty-One Semiconductors is part of FMD-Space – the high-tech-incubator of the Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (FMD). The FMD is the largest cross-site cooperation for research, development and innovation within the field of micro and nanoelectronics, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
The project Twenty-One Semiconductors was supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the European Social Fund in the framework of the EXIST Business Start-Up Grant from Nov. 2018 to Oct. 2019.
